Suggested recipe for laundry powder;
250g Natural Soap Flakes
500g Borax
1kg Washing Soda
Use 1 x scoop per load (20g - 30g approx.)
Washing Soda & Borax are an ideal, eco-friendly alternative to harsh chemicals with a wide range of uses in the home.
Washing Soda- Softens water, helps remove stains & grease spots, brightens & whitens.
Borax- Used as a stain remover, natural deodoriser & fabric softener.
Both available from major supermarkets & hardware stores.
Soap flakes are suitable to use for making your liquid laundry or dishwashing liquids. It's just a matter of dissolving in hot water to the recipe you prefer.
DIY Natural Liquid Laundry Detergent (Borax Free) - Low suds, suitable for front loaders.
About 100 Loads per Container- Using 1/4 cup for each load. I sometimes use a little more, depending on what I'm washing.
Recipe: makes 6.5 litres
•1 Cup Washing Soda
•4 Cups Hot Water
•1 1/4 Cup Natural Soap Flakes
Dissolve washing soda in the hot water and mix well. Gently stir in Natural soap flakes till dissolved. Fill the rest of the container with 24 cups warm water. You now have liquid laundry soap! Decant into bottles and label. I find that I need to shake the detergent every few loads, as it does tend to separate a bit.
Making this detergent is about choosing a gentler, more eco-friendly option. Less packaging waste, less toxic chemicals in the waterways, healthier family.
